Ocean Builders is an ocean-innovation technology company.

Our mission is to develop revolutionary blue technology that makes the 72% of the world that is covered in water into an eco-sustainable paradise. Our technology will allow civilization to move onto the sea and it will unlock the ocean as a new frontier with a quality of life that is unbeatable anywhere else. We believe that by learning to live on the water we will open a new wave of eco-sustainable innovation that will lead to living more sustainably on land. Our modus operandi is to innovate, innovate, innovate and then innovate some more.

Why did we choose the symbol of a seashell for our company logo? For us, it has deep meaning.

  • A seashell is the most natural home built by any creature on our planet. This is in alignment with our goal to make homes that are good for the ocean, nature, and our world.
  • Shells are made by extracting natural elements from their environment. Our long-term goal is to make sustainable homes made from as many natural and eco-conscious materials as possible.
  • A shell is incredibly hard and structurally strong because of its curves which protects you from the outside world.
  • A shell is the oldest type of home built by any creature on our planet.
  • A shell is made in sync with its environment.
  • Shells are the oldest recorded form of human artwork. A recent discovery in Indonesia uncovered a sea shell that is approximately 540,000 years old with engravings on it (click here for the article). Our goal is to not just make a home but artwork that you live in.
  • Every shell is a beautiful masterpiece and we wanted to make each Pod a beautiful masterpiece so you have a home that inspires you.
  • Shells have curves. Our Pods mimic the curves of shells on the inside and the outside walls.
  • A shell consists of numerous layers. Our Pod has a super hard outer pearl-like exoskeleton made of gel coat under which there are numerous layers of fiberglass and an inner layer of foam.
  • Shells can repair themselves. By using a small electric current we stimulate the accumulation of calcium carbonate on our steel spar which helps form a protective layer over the steel structure to keep it from rusting and at the same time it supports ocean life, like coral.
  • A shell is part of the body of a sea creature and we wanted to make a Pod that felt so comfortable and natural to live in that it feels like you are truly at home.

We are on an incredible adventure and we hope you will join us in the Age of Aquarius and the dawn of Homo Aquaticus.

Chad Elwartowski

President

Chad Elwartowski grew up in Michigan with visions of living in an underwater city. After retiring from 20 years as a defense contractor he set out to become the first person to live on a seastead and help it grow into something amazing.

As a first seasteader he brings along his expertise of knowing how life on the open ocean can be and what will be necessary for future customers to feel comfortable in their floating homes.

Chad is currently focusing a lot of his efforts on getting a SeaZone approved in the Pearl Islands of Panama. This will be a special zone where SeaPods can be built into a floating community that is within easy reach of Panama City by boat.
