Grant has always been a visionary. From a young age he caught onto new technology trends long before they became commonplace.
This fascination with technology began at a young age where he would build electronic circuits from scratch, disassembling and re-assembling household electronics and then at the age of 8 in 1980 he became the first and youngest student in Canada to compete in a science fair with a software program on an early home computer. His passion continued to propel him forward, leading him to be featured in the Globe and Mail newspaper as having the most advanced mobile paperless office in Canada in 1995 complete with being the first retail adopter of VoIP technology in the country.
Fueled by this entrepreneurial spirit, Grant found himself living in a San Francisco tech frat-house alongside one of PayPal’s co-founders. This connection sparked the creation of his own software development company, which boasted a prestigious clientele including billion-dollar giants like Wella Professionals, L’Oreal Professional, and a roster of other beauty industry brand leaders.
By 2016, Grant had outsourced his software company so we was effectively retired upon which he moved into a floating home in Toronto. After living there for 3 1/2 years he conceived a revolutionary idea: an eco-restorative floating smart home unlike anything the world had ever seen. His vision materialized on September 22nd, 2022, with the unveiling of the first model open to the public.
He is currently dedicated to pioneering the technology that will form the foundation of the world’s first floating city – a project that demands not only innovation, but the seamless integration, development, and iteration of groundbreaking technological solutions. Grant’s story is one of relentless pursuit, a testament to the power of imagination and the drive to transform futuristic concepts into tangible realities.
