Celebrating the First Quarter of Our 120-Day Underwater Record Attempt.
As the waves crash above and marine life thrives all around, we have officially entered the second quarter of our bold adventure: 120 days underwater.
Surpassing Day 30, we’re celebrating this milestone with a renewed sense of excitement and purpose, with just 90 days left to set a new world record for underwater habitation. “We initially set out with a goal of 101 days, but we upped it to 120 days”, said CEO, Grant Romundt. If we’re going to make history, why not go all the way?
Inspired by past underwater record holders like Dr. Joseph Dituri, who achieved 100 days underwater, and the submarine Warspite, which endured an impressive 111 days submerged, our journey is fueled by a blend of passion, curiosity, and an unwavering drive to innovate.
To mark this milestone, Dr. Javier Garrido, from the Regenerative Clinic in Panama, stopped by to check in on Rudy, who continues to inspire us all with his resilience and enthusiasm. Rudy’s spirits are high, and he’s optimistic about the next phase of this adventure. He feels right at home below the surface, fully embracing the underwater room as not just a habitat but a true home. “Once it becomes your home, it’s your home, and that means you care,” Rudy says, echoing the heart of our mission: to show the world that ocean habitation is more than possible, it’s a way to live connected to nature in its most pristine form. We aim to share the possibilities of the SeaPod lifestyle with everyone, both above and below the water’s surface.
Throughout this mission, we’re collecting invaluable medical data on how the human body adapts to prolonged underwater living. We want to understand the ways our bodies change, grow, and even thrive in these conditions. Alongside this research, we have a live-stream camera offering an underwater window to the bustling marine life around the SeaPod, from shimmering fish to dolphins passing by.
As Rudy embarks on the second quarter of this challenge, we’re filled with optimism and curiosity for what lies ahead. This journey is about pushing boundaries, redefining the possibilities of ocean habitation, and sharing the wonders of underwater life with ocean enthusiasts everywhere. Together, let’s imagine a future where the ocean is not just a place to visit but a place to live, protect, and call home.
