SeaPod Durability: Cutting-Edge System for Steel Protection

SeaPod Durability: Cutting-Edge System for Steel Protection

At Ocean Builders, we’re constantly innovating, especially when it comes to the longevity and sustainability of our floating homes.

One of the most crucial elements in maintaining the structural integrity of the SeaPods is protecting the steel from rust in the harsh marine environment.

After years of development, we’re excited to introduce a new system we designed that will take steel protection to a whole new level.

Previously, we employed a well-known technique in the marine industry: passing an electric current through the steel to prevent rust. This method is widely used to protect steel hulls on ships and has proven effective in stopping corrosion. However, this new system goes beyond this traditional approach by incorporating advanced adaptive technology that fine-tunes the amount of power needed to keep the steel rust-free.

What makes this system truly innovative is its ability to adjust power output based on real-time needs. By automatically adapting the current, it saves significant energy while optimizing the level of protection. This fine-tuning allows us to apply just the right amount of protection to the steel, ensuring efficiency and reducing power consumption. But what’s even more fascinating is that when the system is turned up, it transforms into something much more powerful, it becomes a terraforming, or eco-forming, technology.

This breakthrough means we can not only protect the steel but potentially influence the surrounding environment in positive ways. It’s an exciting step toward our long-term vision of creating floating homes that contribute to ocean restoration.

We’ve been experimenting with various systems for steel protection over the last five years, and the latest creation is by far the most advanced solution we’ve developed. We’re thrilled to have it shipped to our Panama location, where we’ll install it on the SeaPod and test it in real-life conditions. This is a major milestone for us, and we can’t wait to see how it performs in action.
