As Rudiger Koch embarks on his world record attempt for the longest time living underwater, ensuring that everything is properly monitored is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the challenge.
To meet the strict requirements set by the Guinness World Records, a well-coordinated witness system has been established.
This includes both liveaboard and remote witnesses who will be responsible for keeping a close eye on Rudy throughout the entire 120 days he spends submerged.
Liveaboard Witnesses
Our primary liveaboard witness is Eial Bejar, a highly skilled independent security consultant with extensive professional training in safety and security protocols. This individual is living onboard the SeaPod to maintain constant surveillance. While it’s expected that the primary witness will remain throughout the duration of the attempt, one or more pre-approved backup witnesses will be on standby, ready to step in should the main witness need to attend to personal matters.
Professional Witnesses
In addition to the liveaboard witness, a team of professional remote witnesses will monitor the challenge via live feeds from four cameras installed in the SeaPod. Each remote witness will work in shifts, watching for no more than four hours at a time, with their schedule meticulously maintained by the liveaboard witness. These remote witnesses have been approved by the Guinness World Records team, and in the event a scheduled remote witness fails to show up for their shift, the liveaboard witness will take over until the next rotation.
To ensure seamless monitoring, we’ve enlisted the services of a professional security monitoring company. They will rotate witnesses every three hours and fifty minutes, minimizing the risk of gaps in observation.
Living Arrangements for Liveaboard Witnesses
The liveaboard witness resides in the upper section of the SeaPod, which is fully equipped with the amenities of a modern home. The upper living area includes a bedroom, kitchen, living room, bathroom, shower, and patio, ensuring the witness remains comfortable during his stay.
While the witness will live aboard, he will have minimal direct interaction with Rudy to preserve the integrity of the challenge. Ocean Builders will deliver supplies and retrieve trash. However, in situations where employees cannot reach the SeaPod due to weather or other factors, the liveaboard witness will handle these tasks.
Observation Technology and Setup
The upper part of the SeaPod, where the liveaboard witness is staying, is equipped with advanced observation technology, including two video monitors connected to cameras, audio feeds, and environmental sensors to track and monitor Rudy’s activities below the water. This technology allows the witness to remain vigilant, ensuring all rules and guidelines of the world record attempt are followed without interruption.
Commitment to the Challenge
Our goal is to maintain continuous observation of Rudy’s world record attempt for its entire duration. With a robust witness system in place, backed by cutting-edge monitoring technology and dedicated personnel, we’re confident that this challenge will be successfully documented and verified according to the highest standards. We are excited to embark on this extraordinary journey, pushing the boundaries of ocean living and human endurance.
