SeaPod Living versus Life on Land

SeaPod Living versus Life on Land

Less than 1 minute Reading TIme: Minutes

This is a fundamental question we asked Grant Romundt, CEO of Ocean Builders, who has the longest experience living on a SeaPod, both mentally and physically. Mentally, from the initial idea conception years ago, and physically, from having recently spent 30 consecutive days living on the SeaPod. As a result, he can offer unique insights!

Living on a SeaPod is a change of scenery, but also a complete reimagining of what home and lifestyle mean. Unlike traditional land-based living, where environmental impact is often significant, SeaPods challenge the norm by embracing a philosophy of minimal disruption.

Imagine waking up to the gentle lapping of waves, your large panoramic windows revealing a breathtaking expanse of ocean. This is the reality of living on a SeaPod, a revolutionary concept brought to life by Ocean Builders that promises to redefine waterfront living. Maybe even “living” altogether!

Grant believes living in a SeaPod offers a stark contrast to traditional land-based housing. He acknowledges the environmental toll of conventional construction, stating, “Look, on land, we’ve messed things up pretty badly.”

SeaPods, however, represent a complete overhaul of the living experience, prioritizing minimal environmental impact. This is very different from the typical approach of “clear-cutting trees and destroying the environment” to build houses. An approach that is ironically followed by a feeble attempt at “bringing nature in” with a few potted plants. For Grant, SeaPods offer a more sustainable and harmonious way of coexisting with nature.

But the benefits extend beyond environmental responsibility. Living in a SeaPod unlocks a unique lifestyle that revolves around the water. Picture waking up and diving straight into the refreshing ocean for an invigorating start to your day. Or imagine a life where kayaking, paddleboarding or going on your jet ski at sunrise becomes effortless because it is accessible directly from your doorstep!
From exploring the underwater world through snorkeling or diving excursions to simply casting a line right from your doorstep. The ever-changing ocean becomes your playground, offering endless opportunities for recreation and connection with nature.

The SeaPod’s design seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living. It offers dedicated spaces for yoga on the roof, patio, or deck, allowing you to truly connect with the surrounding environment. Why not try a bit of battle ropes fitness as well?
Just breathe in the fresh ocean air, feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, and listen to the calls of seabirds. Your daily routine can be a constant reminder of the natural world around you.

Living in a SeaPod isn’t just about a dwelling; it’s about embracing a community. Imagine a future where SeaPods cluster together, creating a network of sustainable, ocean-oriented living spaces. Residents can share experiences, and explore the surrounding waters together. They can forge a unique bond built on a shared love for the sea. This opens doors for social events, collaborative exploration, and a strong sense of belonging to a community unlike any other.

As Grant suggests, the potential for this innovative living concept is still being explored. The possibilities are indeed endless! “In 5 or 10 years from now probably going to have a whole new way of living that’s going to I think be so different from living on land”. By the look of his amazing Pod life experience, it sure sounds like it would be difficult to go back to living on land!
