Ocean Builders is making waves, literally and figuratively, as it embarks on an ambitious mission to redefine ocean living.
Recently featured on 24Horas, Ocean Builders’ representative Gianfranco Ferronato shared the company’s initiatives, including a bold attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous underwater stay in an underwater residence.
The Birth of a Revolutionary Idea
What began as a functional design challenge evolved into a bold experiment in habitability. “We had the need to use the space at the bottom of the Pod, which was initially structural,” explained Ferronato. “We decided to transform it into a livable area, maintaining our commitment to sustainability and minimizing waste.”
This transformation sparked the question: Could humans live underwater? After rigorous testing and modifications, Ocean Builders realized their creation wasn’t just unique, it was record-breaking. This realization led to the decision to attempt the Guinness World Record, with co-founder and aerospace engineer Rudiger Koch spearheading the mission.
Why Colon, Panama?
Located in Colón, Panama, the SeaPod project benefits from the region’s stable climate and ideal conditions for innovation. Ferronato highlighted that every aspect of the project incorporates innovative advancements, from solar energy to electromagnetic frequency (EMF) reduction technology.
The SeaPod isn’t just a floating home; it’s a harmonious addition to marine life. With specialized coatings that encourage marine habitats to thrive, the SeaPods create a balanced coexistence between humans and the ocean.
Living Sustainably on the Ocean
Ocean Builders’ mission is clear: to create a lifestyle that’s in harmony with the sea. By integrating innovations like low-EMF zones and wired smart home systems instead of Wi-Fi, the company minimizes its ecological footprint.
“The goal is to promote sustainable living while addressing concerns from ecologists,” Ferronato shared. “We’re not just building homes; we’re creating environments where marine life can flourish.”
What’s Next for the SeaPods?
When asked about the availability of the SeaPods, Ferronato explained that the project is still progressing. While there are exclusive viewings by invitation, the broader market launch is expected within the next two years. Ocean Builders aims to make these futuristic homes accessible while ensuring they remain a benchmark for sustainable ocean living.
A Vision Beyond the Record
While breaking the Guinness World Record is a monumental achievement, the mission extends far beyond this milestone. Ocean Builders is leading a movement to redefine how humans interact with the ocean, combining innovation, sustainability, and a respect for marine ecosystems.
