Moving Day: SeaPod Alpha Blue Finds a New Location

Less than 1 minute Reading TIme: Minutes

When it comes to living on the water, SeaPods are in a league of their own. Unlike traditional homes, SeaPods are not tied to one location, they can move!

This flexibility is made possible through innovative design and engineering, and it opens up a world of possibilities for sustainable ocean living.

The Journey of Alpha Blue

Recently, one of our SeaPods, Alpha Blue, made a significant move. Originally launched at Linton Bay Marina, Alpha Blue underwent extensive safety tests before being relocated to Linton Island. There, our CEO, Grant Romundt, lived on the SeaPod since the start of the year, fully embracing the SeaPod lifestyle.

Situated on the Atlantic side of Panama, Alpha Blue faced the seasonal arrival of tradewinds. While the SeaPod is more than capable of handling these conditions, we decided to relocate it to a more sheltered area. This ensures that we can continue hosting visitors during this time of year without interruption. Without the move, access for visitors would have been delayed until April, something we wanted to avoid. So, we found a solution: we moved the SeaPod.

How Alpha Blue Was Moved

Just like moving, relocating a SeaPod is no small feat. Here’s how it happened:

    • Towing Setup: Three boats were used to tow Alpha Blue. The lead boat had a 60hp engine, while the middle and rear boats each had 40hp engines.
    • Travel Time: The journey took about three hours, navigating carefully through boats and reefs to reach the new location.
    • Anchoring: Initially, temporary anchors were used until mooring blocks were placed several days later.

This seamless move highlights the versatility of SeaPods, offering the comforts of a traditional home combined with the mobility of a boat.

The Future of Ocean Living

SeaPods are redefining what it means to live on the water. They provide the stability and luxury of a traditional home with the added benefit of mobility, allowing residents to adapt to changing conditions and explore new locations. This unique feature is just one of the ways SeaPods are evolving ocean habitation and pushing the boundaries of sustainable ocean living.
