Ocean Builders Featured on Univision’s Primer Impacto

Ocean Builders Featured on Univision’s Primer Impacto

Reading TIme: 3 Minutes

We’re thrilled to share that Ocean Builders was recently featured on Univision’s Primer Impacto, one of the most-watched Spanish-language news programs in the world.

The segment spotlights our groundbreaking Guinness World Record for the longest stay in an underwater fixed habitat, and highlights our mission to revolutionize sustainable ocean living.

Earlier this year, Ocean Builders captured global attention when our co-founder, German aerospace engineer Rüdiger Koch, set a groundbreaking Guinness World Record, spending 120 consecutive days living underwater in a SeaPod. This world-first took place in our underwater room, anchored 11 meters below the ocean’s surface, showcasing the power of innovation, endurance, and our vision for a new era of ocean living.

This awe-inspiring feat was more than just a record-breaking moment. It was a powerful statement: the future of sustainable living may not be on land—but beneath the waves.

What started as a spontaneous solution to make room for Koch’s visiting daughter quickly turned into something far more extraordinary. By moving his sleeping quarters to the SeaPod’s underwater room, Rüdiger Koch unknowingly set the stage for what would become a world record-breaking achievement.

“The idea came out of necessity,” Rüdiger shared. “But it became a powerful demonstration of what’s truly possible.”

More than just a personal feat, the 120-day underwater stay became a living, functional prototype for a new way of life, blending innovation, sustainability, and resilience.

At Ocean Builders, our mission is to reimagine how, and where, we live by creating sustainable alternatives to traditional housing. In response to urban overpopulation, rising sea levels, and the escalating concern about the climate crisis, our team has designed floating homes that prioritize eco-conscious innovation. But sustainability doesn’t stop at the surface. To protect and even enhance marine life, we developed a unique cathodic protection system that forms a calcium carbonate layer on the SeaPod’s support structure, promoting the natural growth of coral and algae. In just over a year, a once lifeless seabed has transformed into a flourishing underwater ecosystem teeming with fish, crustaceans, and vibrant coral.

SeaPods are designed to rise with the ocean, offering adaptive, safe, and sustainable living without the risk of loss or displacement.

As rising sea levels threaten major cities like New York, Miami, and Shanghai, the need for resilient, floating architecture is no longer just a forward-thinking concept, it’s a necessity. Built to move with nature rather than resist it, they represent a smarter way forward. Ocean Builders’ message is bold yet clear: if we’re going to build the future, we must build it right – safe, sustainable, and in harmony with the natural world.

These floating homes are more than structures. They are symbols of hope. Of change. Of possibility.

What began as a bold underwater experiment is now paving the way for a new frontier in ocean habitation. Ocean Builders isn’t just rethinking how homes are built, they’re redefining where and how we can live. Rüdiger Koch’s record-breaking underwater stay is proof that the ocean isn’t a boundary—it’s the next beginning.
