Ocean Builders is on the cusp of making history as Rüdiger Koch, co-founder and aerospace engineer, embarks on a groundbreaking attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous stay below the water in an underwater room.
This bold endeavor will take place inside the underwater room of the Deepwater SeaPod, an Ocean Builders’ floating home, located off the northern coast of Panama.

Current Record: 100 days (held by Dr. Joseph Dituri)
New Target: Koch aims to surpass this record by staying in the underwater room for a minimum of 101 days, with plans to extend up to 150 days for added margin.
Location: The SeaPod, floating 1.21 km from the nearest island in the Caribbean Sea, is positioned 3.51 km from Linton Bay Marina, Panama’s northernmost residence.
Depth: Koch’s underwater habitat is 11 meters below the ocean’s surface, with his nearest neighbor, another SeaPod, located 1.7 km away.
Throughout the record attempt, Koch will reside exclusively in the underwater room, demonstrating the feasibility and comfort of long-term subsea habitation. Supplies will be delivered regularly by boat or drone from the nearest marina.
