A Deformation In Our Mold

A Deformation In Our Mold

Less than 1 minuteReading TIme: Minutes

We have had a little bit of a setback in the production of our main mold for the SeaPod. One of the most identifying features of the SeaPod is the beautiful curves that are a key part of the design. While we love curves, sometimes we need things to be perfectly straight, and our parts of our mold that should be straight have developed a bit of a curve.

You can see in the video that the deformation is very small, almost unrecognizable to the naked eye. As small as it is, it is something that needs to be corrected. This mold will be used to create the final product, and if the mold has a deformity, then the final product will have a deformity. This is a learning process for all of us so finding these deformities early is the best outcome.

So our next step here is to reevaluate and make things right. If some of the pieces can be resurfaced to be perfectly straight, then we will do that. If not, then we will simply need to redo the process of making the molds. Perfection is the only option when it comes to our mold so we will be taking the time to ensure that everything is as close to perfect as we can get.

All told, we should lose about a week and a half of time to correct the deformities. Once corrected, we should have a functional mold so that we can begin producing actual SeaPod shells. Once our mold is perfect, our production will be able to start to move along faster and faster. Stay tuned for more updates as we take the time to rework our SeaPod mold.
